Hands-on lab practice

About the Program

IBTC's Networking & Security program starts with the fundamentals every IT technician needs: how devices talk to each other, how IP addressing works, and how to physically build and wire a local network.

From there you'll configure real routers and switches, design small networks that actually work, and learn the security fundamentals — firewalls, VPNs, and safe network practices — needed to keep those networks protected.

  • Hands-on practice on real networking equipment
  • Configure routers, switches and wireless access points
  • Learn the security fundamentals behind every safe network
  • Builds a foundation toward industry certifications (e.g. CCNA)
  • Study online, on-campus in Kigali, or a mix of both

What You'll Learn

1

Networking Fundamentals

How data moves between devices — IP addressing, subnetting, and the OSI model in practice.

Apply security fundamentals

Protect a network with firewalls, VPNs and safe access controls.

Troubleshoot connectivity issues

Diagnose and fix common network problems using the right tools and process.

Work in IT support

Take on network technician or IT support roles in businesses and organizations.

Pursue certification

Move on to industry certifications like CCNA with a strong practical base.

Manage a small business network

Set up and maintain the network for your own or a client's business.
